The day we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived !!! The new Tom Patterson Theatre has opened!

The ribbon cutting ceremony to open the new Tom Patterson Theatre in Stratford was slated for May 10, at 10:30 am with many local and international dignitaries and actors present. The premiere production of Richard III was presented at 2pm. This, and All’s Well that Ends Well were the first performances that were present at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (now the Stratford Festival) back in the summer of 1953. It’s very fitting that these plays should be the first Shakespearean performances in this, the 70th anniversary of the Festival’s inauguration.

Did you know that the new theatre has been nominated for the Ontario Association of Architects’ People’s Choice Award ? – and Won!! The Tom Patterson Theatre is a masterpiece, both inside and out ! Make sure you come to Stratford to see this amazing structure for a performance, or even better, take a guided tour to see what really happens behind the scenes.
