Mornington Rose Bed & Breakfast
The Mornington Rose, built in 1905, has undergone many changes in the last one hundred odd years, and is once again restored to its former beauty. A labour of love for Victoria and Murray, the house now shines with character, comfort, and elegance. Classic taste and inviting furnishings blend with a bright, airy atmosphere to create a fresh, but still traditional look to welcome guests.
Murray is an excellent baker, making a variety of scones, bread, and cookies from scratch for guests to enjoy. In his spare time he makes wood, acrylic and gemstone pens and other small turned items on his lathe.
Victoria (a.k.a. Torrie) is now chef de cuisine, making an interesting and varied gourmet breakfast each day, using as much local produce as possible, including vegetables and herbs from the kitchen garden on-site. When not cooking breakfast dishes in the kitchen, she is fusing glass in her loft, creating unique serving pieces and home decor, wall, window, and garden art, and beautiful glass jewelry items.
Victoria and Murray enjoy the challenges of running their own business, and incorporating their flair for innovative cuisine and artistic endeavours to provide a exciting and memorable Bed and Breakfast experience for their guests.
Original art from Park West Gallery has recently been added to adorn the walls of the Mornington Rose. The works of Artists such as Peter Max, Fanch Ledan, Anatole Krasnyanski, Peter Nixon, Thomas Kinkade, Emile Bellet, Csaba Markus, Itzchak Tarkay and Jean-Claude Picot can be viewed and purchased on-site.
Dishes, wall and window art, garden ornaments, home decor items and jewelry are all made on-site, and available for purchase. As well, check out Murray’s fabulous wood, acrylic, and gemstone hand-turned pens, made on a lathe, and other unique wood pieces.
Sample Victoria’s jams, jellies, conserves and chutneys in our newly reconstructed kitchen. Then take some home to enjoy later – great with warm croissants!
